This huge painting is unframed, but framed it would make a bold statement in a large space. I have often observed this beautiful bird walking on lily pads, using its very long toes. It constantly jerks its head and tail and makes a squawking noise. There are dark colored ones and then the purplish/blue ones and are commonly called the "Coot". Look in my painting how he (it is a male--you can tell by the coloring) walks on the lily pads!
