"The Grapefruit Eater"

"The Grapefruit Eater"
18 x 24 egg tempera, framed SOLD (FROM PRIVATE COLLECTION)

This painting was done a few years ago, but I wanted to show it on my blog. It was done with egg tempera, which is powdered pigment mixed with egg yolk. It is very durable when cured and requires no varnish. The paint was applied in thin layers building up the darks. It is time consuming, but well worth the effort. Click on it to see details and you can actually see the layering in places. I love doing egg tempera, but have to have a lot of time to complete one. I will be doing more, though, so keep looking at my blog.
