12 Days of Christmas--Favorite Paintings Count Down

"Sandhill Cranes"
22 x 34 watercolor, framed $500.
Sandhill Cranes are such regal, interesting birds that I see here in South Florida all the time. Usually there is a youngster with a pair, who mate for life! The baby bird in this painting is very young and will later change in color as he grows. I like the watery background and focused all the detail on the birds. This is the 9th painting in my Painting Count Down!
Merry Christmas to all!

  1. This one is my favourite so far. It has a very oriental look to it. Reminds me of a set of little crane figurines I have (purchased in Hong Kong).

  2. It does have an oriental feel to it, Mark, in part because of the simple background maybe, and then cranes are really represented in oriental art. You are so lucky to have traveled in the Orient!

  3. Hi Egretta; years ago, when I was in the Army, I spent many years in the Far East, In HK, in Brunei and in Nepal. I have always had a love of oriental things, and our house is still full of things we acquired in those days...
