"A Cotswold Ciottage"

"A Cotswold Cottage"

6 x 6 watercolor

$45

I've just returned from a holiday in Northern Ireland, Scotland, and the Cotswolds, England. We were on a coach tour, so there was not much time to paint, but I managed to do this small painting of a thatch-roofed cottage. I am hoping to start a whole series of cottage paintings. The Cotswolds region was amazing with many quaint villages and towns, lovely stone cottages. I came home with lots of photos and sketches and ideas!

  1. This is beautiful, Egretta! I loved the Cotswolds when I visited a dear friend there, many years ago. I long to return to the UK - especially Scotland and the more northerly part of the UK, in Yorkshire, but more than anywhere else, I long so much to return to Cornwall, in the southwest. Have you ever been there? To Mousehole? To St. Ives? To Penzance?

There are so many truly beautiful parts of the UK that I've not been to yet, but would love to. So many quaint, charming, olde-worlde little villages and hamlets - so many shops, inns, cafes, tea rooms, cobbled streets, amazing sea side villages and winding, hilly roads and gorgeous valleys and hills. It'd have been lovely if we could've met when you were visiting Northern Ireland, as I'm only a county or two away from that (south), here in the northwest of Ireland.

I look forward to more of your beautiful paintings - this thatched roof cottage you've done here is just beautiful, and it so captures what the thatched roof really is like. Very hobbit-y, I've always felt. I'd love to see some photos - and of course, more paintings of your great holiday in the UK. - June
