Shaby Chic Rose

"Open Rose"
6x6 acrylic on paper, matted and framed in white
Shabby Chic
$45
This is a decorative painting done to harmonize with Shabby Chic room design. I often have folks ask me for a painting suitable to their decor, and normally I scorn this idea, as I think art stands alone, and matches anything! But I understand that when one is decorating within a theme, such as nautical or Shabby Chic,( which is mostly white painted furniture with pink accents), then I can see how you would want a painting to go with your theme. So here is one!!!

"Mr. Rooster"

"Mr. Rooster"
4 x 4 watercolor on Arches paper
$35
I have been meaning to do a rooster painting for quite some time...don't ask me why. I do love the way they cock their heads to the side and kind of flick it. Then, strutting his stuff, he walks around like the crown prince of the barnyard (his comb is the crown I suppose!) This is small, just right for a kitchen desk or shelf! Click on it for a close up view.

"Persian Kitten on the Quilt"

"Persian Kitten on the Quilt"
6x6 acrylic on hardboard $45
The kitten with attitude has taken possession of the quilt! Don't even think about taking it back! The sides of this small acrylic are painted, so you can sit it on an easel.

Check out my Stylish Blogger Award

Hello everyone,

I received the Stylish Blogger Award today and there it is posted on the right!

Thank you, Kelli, for the award and if you haven't looked at Kelli's beautiful and informative

blog, please do so. It is http://kelliboylesgarden.blogspot.com/. It comes from Northern Ireland

which is so beautiful and you will love looking at the lovely scenes there and the beautiful flowers.

I have been told that when you win the Stylish Blogger Award, you must tell 7 things about

yourself that people don't know, so here goes.

1. Even though I look so very young (Ha,Ha), I am 70 years of age!

2. I started drawing as soon as I could hold a pencil and have painted since a very young age!

3. I play the mountain dulcimer, or at least try.

4. The one thing I wish I could do would be to sing well.

5. I have two very handsome and wonderful grandchildren, both boys.

6. I have nearly always been in business for myself; I have owned a florist, an arts and crafts shop, an art studio, a gift shop and an antique store.

7. I have written a book and am looking for a publisher!

Well, those are my tidbits of information. I hope you keep looking at my blog and enjoy my paintings. I am working on one to post tomorrow.

I would like to recommend the following blogs for you to also enjoy: http://marksvegplot.blogspot.com/, http://freshfromthebackyard.blogspot.com/ http://morefamilyandflowers-darla.blogspot.com/ , www.ellystuin.com/ and my own other blog http://tengablescottage.blogspot.com/ Enjoy! Egretta

Goblets and cherries....

Sketchbook colored pencil drawing
"Goblets and Cherries"
I have been so busy with doing taxes, putting in a Spring garden, and doing some Spring cleaning and sorting, that I haven't started a new painting yet. I have done a few sketches, though. This one is with colored pencils. They are loads of fun to use---I think blending and layering colors can give drawings interest and depth.
