New Painting Started

Hi everyone,

Today I started a new painting and may have finished it except for doing some early morning gardening and then encountering a deadly snake, the Coral Snake. Thankfully, it was killed and didn't bite anyone, but then I had to run to town and get moth balls to scatter around the perimeter of the house to deter snakes. Yes, it is Spring and snakes will begin to appear.

Hopefully I will finish this acrylic painting tomorrow. It is to be fields of flowers with a little cottage in the background. So be sure to look tomorrow and see how I get along.

I am trying to get back in the groove again, painting every day. Whenever one has to break for a holiday or vacation , although needed, it is difficult to get back to full momentum! But I am on my way. I am also spending some time in the garden. Don't you just love Spring planting?

Hi folks! I have company, so am not painting right now, so I have been posting older posts and now I am going to the sketch book. Here is a watercolor sketch done in McIntosh Florida. McIntosh is a little 1800's village, much like it was back in those days. The town has a web site, so viisit it at http://www.friendsofmcintosh.com to see some of the old churches and homes there. It is one of my favorite towns in Florida!

I love the washed out colors of the unpainted boards and the rust on the tin roof. And Iris are flowers that usually grew around most old country houses! They are sort of special granny flowers! But I have always loved them and just had to include them in this little house portrait!

This was interesting to do. I stenciled the lace for the background using real lace as the stencil. I like to paint lace in many different ways. It is always the white of the paper left white in watercolors, so it is always a fun challenge! Hibiscus are all over Florida, so you don't have to look far to see them in all different colors.

This was so much fun to paint! It is done partly from my own porch, with some imagination thrown in.
