"Still Life with Churn and Yo-yo's"

"Still Life with Churn and Yo-Yo's"

11 x 14 acrylic on canvas panel

$150

Do you remember grandmother's churn (if you are old enough)? My own grandmother had one quite like this, but hers was crockery. I love old fashioned items.....they evoke sweet memories of days gone by. It was fun to paint the yo-yo quilt in the background.

"This Old Truck"

"This Old Truck"

16 x 20 acrylic on Gallery wrapped canvas

$500

Micanopy, Florida is one of my favorite places in Florida. It is a tiny town with the surroundings just as they were when the town was an Indian trading post in the early 1800's. The grand old live oak trees are beautiful! I saw this cozy little cottage back off the beaten path and the blue truck parked there was just begging to be painted! I love the colors of the deep red cottage behind the bright turquoise truck peppered with rust, all tucked into the hammock of oaks. Such a peaceful place! Click on it to enlarge.

"Grandmother's Treasures"

"Grandmother's Treasures"

11 x 15 Watercolor

$175

I have finally finished the still life I sat up last week. I used some things from my grandmother's time.....a piece of crochet, a granite ware coffee pot and a Fransiscan cup and saucer, as well as an old quilt. The flowers echoed the old fashioned look. The painting has a soft, sentimental look which is soothing inspite of all the different textures. Memories of the past often give us much joy and this painting is meant to do just that! I hope you like it.

"Garden Gate"

"Garden Gate"

8 x 10 acrylic on gallery stretched canvas

$175

I am still working on the still life in watercolors, but thought I would share this painting I did from reference photos taken in Hillsborough, Northern Ireland. Hillsborough is a quaint, interesting little town with some nice little gardens and cute cottages. I was peeking down a private lane when I took the photos! The sides of this canvas are painted, too, so there is no need for a frame. Click on it to see details.

Calling all those who haven't signed on as a follower of my blog. Take a minute to do so now....it is so nice to know people are looking at my art. It is very encouraging to me!

Starting a new Still Life painting...

I am working on a watercolor still life. I bought some gorgeous flowers to go in the little granite ware coffee pot and spent practically all day yesterday setting up the still life. Still not too happy with it, I thought I'd better start painting before the lilies lost their petals. I drew the composition yesterday and alas, the big lily bud bloomed out overnight! Oh, well, I will still paint one big flower and one bud. This painting is going to take some time. It if quite busy and colorful. Keep looking...it will be done when it is done!! (that's an amazing statement, isn't it?)

"Zucchini Family and Yo-Yo's"

"Zucchini Family and Yo-Yo's"

6x6 Oil on hardboard

$75

Seeing these round zucchini at the market, I was compelled to paint them....so cute they are! I thought the yo-yo quilt repeated the round shapes of the veggies, and the colors offset the greens.Click on the photo to see details.
