Zinnias are my favorite flowers for hot sunny weather and I have a profusion of them in the garden. In this painting, I opted to arrange the flowers with a few leaves in a pleasing way to make a composition without a vase or flower container. For a round painting it works well and I could focus on each flower and its relationship to others. It was fun to paint. You can see the white edge around the painting, which can be cut off if it is mounted on a backing and framed, or it can be framed with a round mat and frame. Either way is pretty. Painting is my passion and I try to paint as much as possible everyday. I love gardening and decorating my home, but when it is hot like it is here in summer, I find my studio is where I want to be! I have also been writing a book about my experiences in the antique shop business. Writing a book is a lot of hard work, what with editing and trying to get one's ideas down in a concise and interesting manner, not to mention the frustrations of using the computer!! I've almost completed it, though. I love so many creative things, including quilting! There just is not enough hours in the day.
