Still painting florals! This one I am not pleased with as much as the others. It doesn't seem vibrant like I was hoping, although I glazed quite a bit. The paper was a new one and it seemed to absorb the paint like a blotter, resulting in pale colors. But it kind of grows on you! I like the clay pot and the mix of colors.
A departure from my usual "tightly"done realistic paintings, I am purposely trying to paint in a looser style and have a bit of fun doing it! I did this wet into wet, just playing with color, layering and splashing on shapes. That is not to say that it is any quicker or less thoughtful, but the results are different than I have been doing flowers. What do you think? I really like it and hope to do a series of florals in this manner. Your comments are appreciated!
The Tropical plants are in full bloom in Florida and the colors are amazing. This painting would be
stunning as a pop of color to brighten up a wall! Just in time for Mother's Day, too. To purchase, click on

Another close up of a Paris Cafe. There is something so special about outdoor cafes in Paris...the color, the sounds, the delicious food and interesting people! This one brings vivid memories back of my trip there with my daughter and son-in-law. A dream vacation!
Painting is my passion and I try to paint as much as possible everyday. I love gardening and decorating my home, but when it is hot like it is here in summer, I find my studio is where I want to be! I have also been writing a book about my experiences in the antique shop business. Writing a book is a lot of hard work, what with editing and trying to get one's ideas down in a concise and interesting manner, not to mention the frustrations of using the computer!! I've almost completed it, though. I love so many creative things, including quilting! There just is not enough hours in the day.
