"Marbles Everywhere"

"Marbles Everywhere"

6 x 6 egg tempera on clayboard

$50

I sat up this little still life...one of my favorite childhood things...marbles! The wooden ball inside the cage was made by an old neighbor of mine several years ago, and the round wooden ball mirrors the roundness of the bowl and the marbles. Click on it for a closer look.

"Time Alone"

"Time Alone"

11 x 14 egg tempera on hard board

$200.

Something has caught the attention of this young girl as she reads in the garden...perhaps a bird song. I have no idea who she is... this painting is just from my imagination. I sat down with no idea what I might paint and started doing a drawing right on the board. It just evolved quickly as I applied the paint in thin layers. I like the freedom in the brush strokes. It is looser than I usually paint, but I really like the modern impressionism of it. Click on it to see the brush strokes.

"Porch Sittin Time"

"Porch Sittin Time"

8 x 10 acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas

$150.

I posted this painting in April of 2010, but I thought I would post it again, as some may have missed it and it is the time of year where many folks are enjoying porches! It is too hot here in Florida to sit during the day, but at night the porch is lovely just before dark, especially if there is a gentle breeze. The flags make me think of Independence Day, which will be here before we know it!

"Sea Shell" by Andrew Cornett

"Sea Shell"

11 x 14 Pastel $50.

My grandson, Andrew Cornett, age 13, asked me to post this beautiful pastel painting he did. I am proud to tell you that this is his first painting to be offered up for sale and he is excited. I told him that someone should snap this up, as he will one day be selling his work for much more and be in demand! So now is your chance to get this painting before the prices go up!

His sense of style and design is superb and I think he shows a lot of talent. I love his colors in this piece and can imagine it framed and in a modern setting. It is signed "Drew Cornett" and dated.

Remember that I have Pay Pal and all you do is click on Buy Now and the rest is easy.

Your comments are appreciated, too.

"Sea Grape Leaves"

"Sea Grape Leaves"

8x10 watercolor $125.

This painting of Florida Sea Grape Leaves was done basically "wet into wet". That means just what it says---while an area is wet, you wash other colors into it, getting subtle color changes and overlapping colors. It is interesting and makes for freely done areas. Some of the lines in the leaves were then obtained by wetting the tip of the brush with water only and lifting color out.. Click on this to see details.

Graduation in Minnesota and a Budding Artist

Hi everyone,

I have just returned from Minnesota and a really exciting and fun graduation party for my niece, by marriage, Lauren, who graduated from high school. She is pictured below with her cousin, Maddy.

Lauren received many wonderful awards and a great scholarship. She plans to go into pediatric nursing. So congratulations to Lauren.

The happy graduate!

Below is Hannah, Lauren's sister and she is a budding artist!

She brought out her paintings and pottery for me to see, and I was amazed at her talent! She is planning to take a painting class in school next year. Keep up the good work, Hannah!

For close ups, click on these photos.

It was a good break for me and now I am ready to get back to painting, so I will be posting soon. Thanks for looking, Egretta

"Still Life with Ball Jar"

"Still Life with Ball Jar"

9 x 13 watercolor on Arches paper $150

Here I am deviating from my plans of concentrating on egg tempera! I guess best laid plans often go astray....... Seems I just have to paint lace and reflections with watercolors for awhile, so that is exactly what I am doing! Click on this to see the details.

Don't you just love old Ball canning jars with those zinc lids! And that pretty turquoise blue color. These jars are great for displaying old marbles, wooden spools, buttons and the like. The little dessert dish is Depression glass.

"Almost Tea Time"

"Almost Tea Time"

8x10 watercolor on Arches paper $150.

I just couldn't stop doing flowers and lace after the last two paintings I posted! This little tea pot beckoned to me, too, because of the way it reflects the colors around it. So, I sat up a simple still life and enjoyed painting it very much. Hope you like it, too. Click on the painting to see details.

"The Queen of Lilies"

"The Queen of Lilies"

6 x 6 watercolor $45.

To me, Lilies are stately. They remind me somehow of crowns. Anyway, these were fun to paint. I love the colors I used and the shadows on the wall!

"Little Creamer"

"Little Creamer"

4x6 watercolor on Arches paper $40.

After painting 3 egg tempera paintings, one after another, I just had to take a break from that medium and do a fun watercolor. Yes, painting lace is really fun---all those crazy holes, leaving the white of the paper, not usuing white paint at all.

If you examine this painting, the lace forms abstract patterns. Click on it to see details. Your comments are appreciated!
